Uses of Model Map to Students


Direction databases and online map and also GPS or global positioning systems have modernized the way people locate places, but they can’t replace the importance of examining and reading globes and maps. By studying the types of maps, students can understand more about the social, economical and political aspects of a country, additionally to gain geographical knowledge. The study of globes and maps improves abstract and critical thinking skills that will certainly help students as they improve in school. 



Reading map helps students enhance reasoning skills and problem solving. For instance, students can determine how far the school is from their house. Also, they can make fastest and easiest routes to travel to different places. This develops students’ self-confidence, sufficiency in their capability to find solutions.



If students know how to properly read maps, they can able to observe the world accurately. Maps give more than just a place. Reading map can provide students a good perspective whenever they see that they are part of a bigger world that can encourage a need to learn more about the places on a map as well as their names. Students can also learn more about a country by studying a model map, including information concerning its natural resources, climate, land forms and bodies of water. A major portion of geography shows the technical features of map structure. In addition, students can learn about the tools and symbols of maps like the compass key, titles and rose that help determine one map to another.
